Salvia involucrata ‘Bethellii’

A half-hardy summer to autumn flowering Mexican species bearing dense terminal spikes of vivid pink, tubular, hairy flowers, opening from darker calyces. Up to 1.5m tall, this is hardy in mild areas and elsewhere often survives over winter if sited intelligently, but it roots from cuttings easily anyway and can be over-wintered under cover if necessary. For well drained soil, best not overly dry, this makes a very long flowering late summer/autumn feature.
