Sauromatum venosum
Variously described as 'quite demonic', 'something from another planet', 'certainly the strangest of all bulbous plants' and '...a real weed of Satan', this is the Voodoo Lily from Africa and Asia. In late spring dark spikes emerge, opening into a foul smelling purple and leopard skin Aroid flower, followed by a very attractive compound leaf to about 60cm high.
