Schefflera alpina (seed raised)

A high altitude member of the Aralia family from N. Vietnam forming a highly desirable large shrub with evergreen exotic foliage. Leathery leaflets radiate in groups of seven from long petioles and heads of purple tinged flowers in early autumn make way for bloomy black fruit. One of the hardier species, favouring cool wet mountain tops in the wild. Best here in semi-shade and reasonably drained soil.
