Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Blue Heaven’

The 'Little Bluestem' from the USA is at its best in relatively poor, well drained, even dry soils in full sun. 'Blue Heaven' has been selected for height, sturdiness and good foliage colour, reaching 120cm in flower. The upright clumps of fine-textured narrow foliage start out light-blue in spring/early summer and develop deep-pink and burgundy hues in late summer, turning to copper shades at the leaf tips in autumn. Glossy purple panicles of flower top the stems in late summer/autumn. Very hardy.
