Scilla hughii

Closely related to S. peruviana, this is endemic to a small Italian island and differs in various features. Big flattened globular heads up to 20cm across of two-tone starry flowers in purple-blue and deep-blue on purple tinted flower stalks in late spring. A winter growing bulb for a sheltered full sun position in good well drained soil. Dormant for a short while in summer.
