Sophora tetraptera Lake Taupo form

A superb vigorous form with a pale beige-silver tint to the foliage and masses of large golden yellow flowers in spring. Makes a large shrub or even a small tree given time and a sheltered site, where it will grow strongly. Attractive pinnate foliage is evergreen or nearly so and the atypical pea-flowers are followed by long, conspicuous winged pods. This is the true species, unlike many in cultivation.
