Sorbus eleanorae

A large leaved recent introduction from China, closely related to S. megalocarpa. A small hardy tree of upright, rounded habit, this differs from the latter in bearing its rounded-conical heads of creamy-white flowers with the foliage in spring. These are followed by bright-green turning slowly red-brown fruit, like little crab-apples in autumn. Foliage emerges bronze tinted in spring and can show rich red tints in autumn.
