Most distinct amongst the rowans, this Chinese species, closely related to S. insignis, has comparatively huge foliage composed of few (3 to 5) great fat, thick textured, glossy, dark green leaflets with pale glaucous undersides, turning a good strong yellow in autumn in this clone. Large flat heads of white flowers are followed by small creamy-white fruits. Makes a large shrub or small tree eventually. A Kingdon Ward original collection.
