Styrax formosanus var. formosanus

A species from the mountains of Taiwan, closely related to S. japonicus, but with the pendant, white, bell-like flowers markedly scented; similar to but not quite as divine as Jasminum polyanthum. Only introduced in the 1990's it is perfectly hardy and less wide spreading than typical S. japonicus. Expect at least 6m tall in woodland conditions on lime free soil.
