Particularly rare in cultivation, this was found in Himalayan Arunachal Pradesh, NE India at 3000m altitude. Related to S. japonicus, this is one of the larger flowered species and has classic pendulous pure white flowers in early summer. Originally introduced by George Forrest from Yunnan, this has grown well in Cornwall for the last 100+ years, but is barely known should be tried across the UK.
