Styrax japonicus ‘Purple Dress’

An unusual and relatively new form with leaves that emerged suffused with purple, turning to a slightly bronzy-green in summer. The bell-like flowers have deep brown-purple stalks and calyces contrasting with the white petals and hang from the branches en-masse in June. A small deciduous tree for lime free soil, best out of the hottest driest positions.
