Styrax sp. NJM 11.085

Seed grown from a tree originally found at 1600m in Central Guizhou Province, SW China, where it grew with various Rhododendron species, Hydrangea longipes, Holboellia, Quercus aliena and other nice things. It is almost impossible to key-out Styrax species from China with any accuracy so this remains an unidentified species, though the masses of relatively large and sweetly fragrant white flowers in June make a species name almost an irrelevance. A small hardy tree for lime free soil.
