Tilia ‘Harold Hillier’

A vigorous hybrid lime raised in 1973 and thought to be T. japonica 'Ernest Wilson' x T. mongolica. A medium sized tree of conical habit when young, rounding out with age, the leaves rather maple-like with three prominent lobes and bristle-tipped teeth, dark green above and grey-green beneath, turning to a rich butter-yellow in autumn. Clean of aphids in summer when the mass of white fragrant blossom appears. 16m high after 40 years.

Pot size: 5L
