Tilia mongolica
The Mongolian Lime is far too rarely planted in the UK. A fairly small leaved species, very distinct in having 3 to 5 lobed, highly serrated leaves, especially on young plants. This attractive feature is enhanced by excellent yellow autumn colour. Scented flowers in summer on a small compact tree with dense, red tinged twigs in winter. Easy, hardy and perfectly suited to small gardens etc.
