Vernicia fordii

Ungrown in the UK as far as I know, but this is an exotic that should be attempted in mild areas. The foliage is very bold, much like a Firmiana, and the highly attractive flowers are open faced, white with each petal heavily red veined at the base, held in large clusters. A small tree from China, naturalised in S. Japan. Also great great in a pot, overwintered under cover.

Pot size: 2L
