Begonia grandis subsp. evansiana ‘Sparkle and Shine’

A new white flowered form of this very hardy Chinese species from the USA, one of a couple of selections from Ed Bowen, with silver spots on the saturated deep-red backed leaves, some of which colour deepens the green above, making for a much more colourful plant. A mass of white flowers are seen above the foliage in late summer. Height 45cm. Part shade or sun with shelter from wind. I've found this species to be remarkably drought and sun tolerant here, even under extreme conditions, though looks better in semi-shade.
