The 'Paper Mulberry' from the Far East gains its common name from the Japanese use of its bark for paper making. In this country it forms a deciduous large shrub or small tree with hairy foliage, sometimes simple, sometimes deeply lobed like a mulberry (Morus). Male flowers drooping catkins, females round ball-like inflorescences followed by bizarre orange fruit.
