New on the scene in the UK, this weirdly named but excellent cultivar was raised in Japan by Hagawira Toshihiro and appears to be almost certainly a hybrid of C. kousa and C. hongkongensis. Unsurprisingly, this has semi-persistent foliage and red tinted young growth, but the stand out feature is the exceptional and long lasting deep orange-red autumn colour, eventually falling in winter. The flowers bear white bracts in the style of C. kousa in June, with hints of pink as they age. This should make a large shrub or small tree for most decent soil, except thin chalk. Hardy.
