An exceptional fig for outdoor cultivation. Large pear-shaped dark blackish-purple fruit with particularly delicious red-tinted flesh, this fig produces good crops outside locally here in the Cotswolds. As ever, better crops will come from being planted against a warm sunny wall. Also known as 'Noire de Bellone'. Very drought tolerant, this is happy in poor soils and may fruit better on such, though the myth of root restriction is clearly nonsense, for some cultivars at least.
