Hedychium marginatum

Endemic to N.E. India and N. Myanmar, this is a very rare plant in the UK, collected by me in Manipur in 2013. A deliciously fragrant autumn flowering species with egg-yolk yellow flowers that darken to an orange-yellow, produced from a cone of red-tinted bracts. The flowers have an exceptionally pleasing fruity-sweet fragrance and are seen in late autumn, hence it would be best as a potted specimen, outside in summer then brought under cover for winter. Nicely red-marked stems to approx 1.3m tall.
