Magnolia grandiflora ‘Samuel Sommer’

One of the finest forms of M. grandiflora, but rarely encountered, making a small tree with dark, broad, glossy leaves, deep rusty-brown felted beneath, and exceptionally large, intensely fragrant creamy-white flowers in late summer/early autumn, recorded up to 39cm across in the USA! Very hardy, wind resistant and lime tolerant.
