Magnolia ‘Summer Solstice’

A hybrid between M. globosa and a pink flowered form of M. obovata, named by Maurice Foster, though raised at the Savill Garden. This makes a strong growing tree of small to medium size with leaves glaucous beneath and strongly fragrant globular flowers in June; pale pink in bud opening white, with pale pink outer tepals and a boss of red stamens internally.
