Mahonia duclouxiana

One of the most desired of all Mahonia, from China, India, Myanmar etc, but very rarely seen in gardens. A shrub to 3m tall with very bold, handsome, large, pinnate foliage and racemes of richly scented, variably yellow to orange-yellow flowers in early spring. Best in a fairly sheltered spot come a very cold winter, mine is usually completely hardy in my very cold rural frost pocket. Sun or shade.
