Mahonia magnifica

Well named, this impressive species, first found by Kingdon Ward in Manipur, makes a large multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with splendid large pinnate foliage composed of long taper pointed well spined leaflets, the veins deeply impressed above. Long racemes of fragrant yellow flowers in spring. This collection from the highest peaks of Mizoram. Hardiness unknown. Exceptionally rare.
