Mahonia x savilliana

A rare hybrid between two unusual species; eurybracteata and gracilipes, both introduced in 1980 from Sichuan, China. A smallish, erect, evergreen shrub with upright or relaxed racemes of yellow, red or orange, sometimes bicoloured flowers in late summer. Foliage can favour either parent or be inbetween. Has grown to 1.8m in 17yrs with me. For a shaded site in most soils. Hardy.
