Photinia glomerata (prionophylla of hort.)

Misidentified in cultivation, this is the striking species rarely encountered in a few UK gardens where it is usually lusted after by plantsmen for its thick, hard, large evergreen foliage, emerging copper tinted in early summer. Large heads of white flowers in July followed by crimson fruit. Best in a sheltered position, this makes a large shrub or small tree.
