Photinia serratifolia ex Yunnan

A very handsome evergreen, large shrub or small tree with large leathery leaves. Big corymbs of white flowers in spring, followed by red fruit. Throughout the long growing season the foliage emerges bright coppery-red. This is a form collected originally in W. Yunnan at 2050m alt. Most unusual compared to its common-or-garden-centre fodder cousins. Superb specimens are to be found in one or two big gardens, like Bath B.G. Suited to most soils in sun or semi-shade.
