This find from high altitude in Nagaland is apparently an undescribed new species according to the late David Frodin, taxonomist at RBGE Kew. Sharing the forest at over 2700m asl with huge tree sized Rhododendron macabeanum, this made a small tree to about 10m in the largest specimens, but most often much smaller. Compound palmate leaves with lightly toothed leaflets green above and grey hairy beneath. Best suited to semi-shade and well drained soil with reasonably consistent moisture in summer. Showing impressive hardiness so far, but best sited intelligently.
