Stachyurus salicifolius

Worth planting purely for foliage effect, this semi-evergreen species from W China has graceful arching growth and, as its name suggests, long, very narrow, willow like leaves, bronze when expanding. Stiffly drooping racemes of pale yellow flowers in early spring all along the branches. Makes a shrub to about 2.5m, for any reasonable soil.
