Strobilanthes mastersii
Big, thick textured, deeply veined, bold exotic foliage; this is like no other Strobilanthes I've ever seen. The leaves develop purple tints above and below late season, especially if grown in sun. Its stout vertical stems reach 1.5m high in one season from the ground, but without frost can reach over 3m! Exact hardiness as yet unknown, as virtually no one grows it, but definitely fine to -5c and with a good mulch should take much lower. The deep-purple flowers are elusive.
