Styrax confusus

A rare species in cultivation, yet highly attractive and perfectly hardy, as is proven at Castle Howard, Yorkshire. This Chinese species makes a small tree to approximately 4-5m tall, bearing terminal racemes of scented white flowers, each with attractively reflexed petals, borne in late June and early July. For sun or semi-shade in reasonably moisture retentive lime-free soil.
