Foliage par excellence; there's nothing else like this! Endemic to a few localities on Sardinia and Corsica, this sends up a most fabulous tight fist of congested filigree leaf segments in early spring, expanding to form truly amazing cloud-like cushions, very springy to the touch and highly tactile. The inflorescence of rounded yellow umbels is shorter than the common 'giant fennel' F. communis, reaching only c.1.4m, and is seen in early summer before the whole plant goes dormant for its summer rest. Very hardy, for sun.
