Cupressus himalaica

Closely related to C. cashmeriana etc. but more cold tolerant, this is fully hardy across the UK. A huge tree in the wild in Bhutan, often 40m tall, but recorded as up to 80m (!), this is much smaller in cultivation and has so far reached about 10m, with dense upright, conical trees in specialist collections. Foliage sprays are naturally pendulous and in this collection are slightly glaucous.
