Filipendula multijuga

The Japanese Meadowsweet is a hardy deciduous perennial with handsome prominently veined palmate foliage and stems to 1m high, bearing flattened fluffy heads of bright-pink flowers in high summer; July-Aug. Naturally hailing from moist meadows, often in full sun, it is ideally suited to retentive soils that don't dry excessively in the UK too. In many ways this is like a smaller version of the American F. rubra 'Venusta' and a mix of the two in a planting would be a fine thing.
