A horned poppy from the Med' and very similar to our native yellow flowered species, but this one has glowing red flowers for ages during summer. Makes a mound of highly attractive light blue crinkled foliage to about 50cm high with the flowers borne on long stalks, followed by string bean-like seeds pods. Best in very well drained crappy soil, where it will be very hardy and live a fair while. It persisted here on a pile of Type1 roadstone (no soil) for many years. Self sows gently in all the right places.
