Magnolia ‘Watermelon’

Another product of the endless breeding work of Vance Hooper in New Zealand, this is the result of a cross between Magnolia 'Caerhays Belle' and Magnolia 'Genie', both superb cultivars in their own right, giving rise to a small upright bushy tree to about 6m x 3m after 10 years. Semi-double rich-pink flowers up to 20cm across are borne on the bare branches in spring, with a repeat flowering in summer if happy. For any good soil in sun or semi-shade.
