Found originally at Westonbirt arboretum, this is a slow growing semi-dwarf Tilia with very small foliage. Considered a seedling of T. cordata, though also perhaps a hybrid of a small leaved form of T. japonica, its rounded leaves have attractive drip-tips. A mass of fragrant white flowers are borne in late summer and the leaves turn to a warm yellow in autumn. Highly suited to smaller gardens or wherever the elegance of a Tilia is required, making an upright graceful tree to just 12m or so after 25 years.
